Black History Month: #Shopblack

Rooted In History, While Celebrating The Present

Black History Month is upon us.  All month long, and everyday we at The Mom Project are honoring #BlackHistoryMonth, by connecting, conversing, collaborating and being rooted in history while also celebrating the present. This February is an opportunity for us to have a monthlong focus on the Black heroes and pioneers, past and present, who have shaped our world and whose stories are not often acknowledged. More than that, it spotlights the importance of being an ally to marginalized communities — not for 28 days but for all 365 days in a year.

Rooted, The Mom Project's African American ERG would like to encourage everyone this month, and beyond, to shop from and support black businesses.

The Mom Project: Where Creating Economic Opportunity is core to our mission

At The Mom Project, creating economic opportunity for moms is core to all that we do, so it's a natural extension that we want to support Black Businesses during Black History Month and beyond. Supporting black-owned businesses can increase the flow of wealth to black families and the communities where they live and work, fosters job creation, celebrates black culture, and helps close the racial wealth gap.

#ShopBlack & Show us your receipts

Support a local Black-owned business this February - Whether it is local (there are some amazing businesses in major cities across the nation) or online, we encourage you to discover new places to shop, eat, and explore. You may just fall in love, and become a repeat customer.

When you #shopblack, tag The Mom Project and the business you've supported so that we can share on our social channels.

To get you started, we asked our Rooted fam to help us curate a list of their favorite products & services. Here are a few to get started. And if you have suggestions, send them our way so that we can add to our list. Thank you so much for your support. #shopblack today:
